The new EU-funded programme “Storytelling as Pharmakon in Premodernity and Beyond: Training the New Generation of Researchers in Health Humanities” (StoryPharm) coordinated by the Centre for Medieval Arts and Rituals (CeMAR; www.ucy.ac.cy/cemar) at the University of Cyprus, launches its first training activities. StoryPharm’s Induction Week, that will take place at the Learning Resource Centre – Library ‘Stellios Ioannou’ (Room LRC012) between 16 and 20 June 2025, includes workshops, seminars, guided tours and lectures from specialists in health humanities. StoryPharm was awarded a funding of €5,1 million, as part of the competitive European Programme Horizon Europe (2021–2027), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action – Doctoral Networks. The project’s consortium is made up by the University of Cyprus (coordinator), the University of Bamberg (Germany), the University of Lund (Sweden), the University of Salerno (Italy), and the University of Cardiff (UK). The project involves also non-academic partners including pharmaceutical companies, museums, libraries, municipalities, and a publishing house.
The programme offers 19 doctoral fellowships with a high-quality multifaceted training leading to the acquisition of important research and other transferable skills through which the selected fellows will be able to successfully lead careers in research and the domains of health, education and culture.
