T<\/em><\/strong>he project <\/em><\/strong>is b<\/em><\/strong>ein<\/em><\/strong>g implemented under the Cohesion Policy Progr<\/em><\/strong>amme \u201cTHALIA 2021-2027,\u201d co-financed by the European Union.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Project Description<\/strong><\/p>\n The University of Cyprus (UCY) has recently initiated an international tender for the development of the first phase of the \u201cApollon\u201d Photovoltaic Park, accompanied by an energy storage system.<\/p>\n This initiative is aligned with the strategic vision to transform the University Campus into a sustainable and smart city, capable of addressing the future development needs of the University within a flexible and sustainable framework.<\/p>\n The first phase of the project involves the installation of photovoltaic systems with a capacity of 5 MWp, alongside an energy storage system with a capacity of 2.35 MWh. This phase is expected to generate 8.4 GWh of clean energy annually, which will meet 50% of the campus’s current electricity requirements.<\/p>\n The integration of the energy storage system is a pioneering aspect of the project, marking it as the first large-scale energy storage installation of its kind in Cyprus. It will play a crucial role in the campus’s future energy management system by promoting the electrification of energy systems and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
