Unlocking Sacred Landscapes (UnSaLa) is an inter-disciplinary research Network founded in 2014 and concerned with the diachronic study of the temporality, spatiality and materiality of Mediterranean sacred landscapes. The first phase of UnSaLa’s activities, based on an Agreement of Collaboration between the University of Cyprus, Trinity College Dublin, and the Institute for Mediterranean Studies in Crete (2014-2021), were funded by the Irish Research Council – IRC (2014-2015), the German Research Foundation – DFG (2015-2018) and the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus, through the Research and Innovation Foundation – RIF EXCELLENCE/1216/0362 (2018-2021). The Network entered its second phase in 2021, it is currently based at Trinity College Dublin, and it is coordinated by Dr Giorgos Papantoniou.
