AWARE Campaign - Web Press Conference for Refugees and Asylum Seekers
 
The AWARE Campaign held a Web Conference between representatives of refugees and asylum seekers with the participation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representative in Cyprus Katja Saha to highlight the difficulties migrants face in integrating into Cypriot society mentionig also the challenges faced during the Pandemic.

New UNESCO Courier issue dedicated to the Post-Covid-19 world and will give voice to women only!

The new issue of UNESCO Courier aims to facilitate understanding on how this crisis is affecting our societies and to explore the possible consequences of the pandemic.

Education, media, sciences, women, culture…on a weekly basis, the UNESCO Courier will give the floor to prominent women to think about the “Post-Covid19 world”.

The issue will be officially launched in July. In the meantime, an article will be published on a weekly basis on UNESCO's Courier social media channels and newsletters.

5) 3rd International Symposium on Early Childhood and School Pedagogy

The Department of Early Childhood, University of Ioannina (Laboratory of Pedagogy and Teaching Methodology) in cooperation with the Department of Education, University of Cyprus and the Department of Educational Science and Early Childhood Education (Laboratory of Sociology and Education), University of Patras are organizing the 3rd International Symposium on Early Childhood and School Pedagogy. 7) Participation of the UNESCO Chair in an Online Discussion on Integrating Gender Equality in Universities and Research Institutions‏, organized by the EuroGender Network (20 October 2015)

The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) organized an online discussion and event on integrating gender equality in universities and research institutions‏ on the 20th of October 2012. The UNESCO Chair in Gender Equality and Women's Empowermenr of the University of Cyprus were among the participants and were involved in a fruitful discussion and exchange of ideas with other gender experts and scholars from across Europe. 11) Participation of the UNESCO Chair and the Centre for Gender Studies of the UCY in an Online Discussion on Gender Training in Europe, organized by the EuroGender Network (25-26 September 2012)

The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) organized a two-day online discussion and event on gender training in Europe on the 25th and 26th of September 2012. The UNESCO Chair in Gender Equality and the Centre for Gender Studies of the University of Cyprus were among the participants and were involved in a fruitful discussion and exchange of ideas with other gender experts and scholars from across Europe. The new postgraduate programme for Gender Studies at the University of Cyprus was introduced. 16) 25th November: UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

By resolution 54/134 of the 17th December 1999 the United Nations General Assembly has designated the 25th of November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. This is an anniversary celebrated worldwide every year, and is marked by various activities designated to raise public awareness of the issue. The University of Cyprus Centre for Gender Studies and the UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment remain committed to the aim of ending gender violence and all forms of inequality and disempowerment, through multiple types of research, dialogue and positive action. Work to end violence against women and girls, and make the 25th of November an important date in your calendar!

17) INVITATION - INAUGURATION OF THE UNESCO CHAIR AND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

It is our pleasure to invite you to the Inauguration of the UNESCO Chair in Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment which will be held on the 22nd of October 2010 at the University of Cyprus, Nicosia.

The first day is dedicated to the official ceremony with participation of the political, social and educational leadership of the country. At the inauguration UNESCO officers and the partners of the Chair will be present. Institutions of Higher Education and Research, academicians, GOs and NGO's in Europe, the Balkans and Middle East, as well as local bodies and individuals interested in gender equality and women's empowerment have been also invited.

This will be followed on the 23rd of October, by a Conference with the theme: "Mapping the Gender Equality: Research and practices - the national and international perspective".

18) FIRST MEETING OF PARTNERS – DAPHNE III RESEARCH PROGRAMME AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS

The first meeting of DAPHNE III partners took place on the 2nd to 4th of March 2010, at the University of Cyprus. Three members from each participating country and the members of the Cypriot team attended the meeting, as follows:

During the meeting, the projects' coordinator presented the guidelines given by the European Commision regarding the elements of good projects, while partners had the opportunity to discuss in detail issues of project timetable, workplan, research methodology, budget and management.

Also, partners enjoyed a guided excursion to Asinou, a place of UNESCO's Universal Cultural Heritage and were given DVD and leaflets regarding the monuments of Cyprus that are included in the Universal Cultural Heritage list. These were funded by the Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO.
