May 9, 2025The University of Cyprus Graduation Ceremonies are a prestigious tradition and a defining moment in the academic journey of its students.
Organizing these ceremonies is a demanding endeavor that requires continuous effort, meticulous planning, and teamwork to ensure that graduates are honored appropriately and that the event becomes an unforgettable experience for them, their families, friends, and loved ones.
For this year’s celebration, Ms. Doxa Komodromou, Press Officer of the University of Cyprus and Head of the Office for the Planning and Implementation of Official Events — who is responsible each year for the complete design and execution of the event — stated that the Senate’s timely decision to schedule the Graduation Ceremonies for the last week of June clearly demonstrates the University's strong commitment to honoring its graduates in the most impressive and dignified manner.
Ms. Komodromou emphasized that "this is a high-demand event that combines academic prestige with emotion, joy, and the formality of the moment, offering graduates memories that will last a lifetime. The University of Cyprus is not merely an educational institution; it is a community that fosters knowledge, relationships, and life values, always keeping its doors open to its alumni."
As such, she added, the Graduation Ceremonies will be held with full honors as follows:
Undergraduate Students:
Monday, June 23, 2025: Medical School, School of Humanities, School of Economics and Management
Tuesday, June 24, 2025: School of Pure and Applied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering
Wednesday, June 25, 2025: School of Social Sciences and Education, School of Philosophy
Postgraduate Students:
Thursday, June 26, 2025: School of Humanities, School of Social Sciences and Education, Faculty of Engineering, School of Philosophy
Friday, June 27, 2025: Medical School, School of Pure and Applied Sciences, School of Economics and Management
Ms. Komodromou also noted that, following tradition, the University Senate has decided to invite distinguished public figures to the ceremonies, who will deliver addresses and present awards to outstanding graduates. In addition, each ceremony will feature a speech by a valedictorian representing the undergraduate graduates of each faculty, while for postgraduate students, the School of Graduate Studies will select one speaker to represent master's and doctoral graduates.
The Senate’s decision is made early each year, as the preparation of the ceremonies requires multifaceted coordination and long-term planning by the Office for the Planning and Implementation of Official Events, which also handles numerous other activities throughout the year. The success of hosting five grand ceremonies depends on the collaboration of various departments, the creativity, and the dedication of all those involved, to ensure that each graduate enjoys a truly unique experience.
The University of Cyprus continues to lead the way, ensuring that each year’s graduation ceremonies exceed expectations and create moments of joy, pride, and deep emotion for everyone involved.
