Distinction for Professor Giorgos Georgiou at the Cyprus Research Awards by Research and Innovation Foundation

The Cyprus Research Awards of the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) once again highlighted the importance of innovation and scientific excellence. This year’s ceremony, held at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, was marked by great success.

Through this established institution, now recognized as a reference point for the Cypriot scientific community, the RIF honored six distinguished researchers from Cyprus, acknowledging their contributions to research and the creation of groundbreaking work.

Among them was Professor Giorgos Georgiou from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering, who received the “Cyprus Research Award – Distinguished Researcher in the field of Physical Sciences and Engineering” at this year’s Cyprus Research Awards. A remarkable researcher and a pioneer in the study of photovoltaic energy, Professor Georgiou is recognized for the outstanding quality of his research, ranking him among the top multidisciplinary scientists in a highly competitive field.
