We are delighted to welcome Professor Mario Gollwitzer on Thursday 06.04 at 14:00 to talk about “Context-dependency as an explanation for effect size heterogeneity and non-replicability in large-scale replication projects”. To participate, just join us us at LRC 019.

Talk Summary:

·        Context dependency can explain low replication rates and has fundamental implications for the design of replication studies.
·        A strategy to empirically estimate the extent to which observed context dependency is due to conceptually relevant vs. irrelevant conditions, applicable even when the exact nature of the conceptually relevant conditions is unknown.
·        Conceptually relevant context dependency can be estimated by eliminating irrelevant variation from the overall estimate of effect size heterogeneity.
·        Exemplify this approach and discuss its usefulness for (a) interpreting the results of existing replication studies and (b) designing multi-site replication projects.
·        Project embedded in a  research consortium called “META-REP”, funded by the German Research Foundation (2021-2027).
