Prof. Gesine Mierke
Gesine Mierke is Professor of German Medieval Studies with a focus on Digital Humanities and New Media. From April 2024, she is the Director of the Centre for Medieval Studies (ZeMas) at the University of Bamberg. Her research focuses on the transmission, edition, mediality, and reception of medieval literature. She is also involved in cultural studies issues including the acoustic dimension of medieval literature. Since 2021, she has coordinated the interdisciplinary DFG network Soundscapes of the Middle Ages. She has published on chronology in the High and Late Middle Ages and on Old Saxon biblical poetry. Together with Martin Clauss, she edited the anthology Lautsphären des Mittelalters (Cologne 2020). She is currently working on the transmission and reception of the Wigalois Wirnts von Grafenberg.
