Dr Eve MacDonald

Eve MacDonald is a Senior Lecturer in Ancient History at Cardiff University. She is an ancient historian and archaeologist who works on the history and material culture of the Sasanian Empire. Her interests lie in the memory, history and culture of the Sasanians and she has worked especially on the borderlands of the Empire. Eve is currently working on a history of the Sasanian Empire for Yale University Press (forthcoming 2025) and a (co-authored) Gendered View of the Sasanians for Arc Humanities press. She has published on the social history and the archaeology of the Sasanian world and its frontiers and landscapes. Her research interests include urbanism, gender history and social memory in the period between the 5th to the 9th century CE.
