Dr Bettina Wagner

Dr Bettina Wagner is Director of the State Library in Bamberg whose medieval holdings comprise 1.000 manuscripts and c. 3.600 incunabula. She has achieved funding from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft to prepare a catalogue of all library’s medieval illuminated manuscripts (vols 1-3 have already been published). She has also overlooked the digitization of the library's medieval manuscripts (https://www.staatsbibliothek-bamberg.de/). Bettina has published widely on the history of the book in the late Middle Ages. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the transmission and translations of the "Letter of Prester John". She is editor of several volumes of conference proceedings and exhibition catalogues and co-editor of the journals Jahrbuch der Buch- und Bibliotheksgeschichte and Medium Buch.
