F6 Francesca Rutigliano (UCY)
Francesca Rutigliano is a doctoral candidate at the University of Cyprus, working under the supervision of Stavroula Constantinou. She holds an MA in Philology, Literatures, and History of Antiquity from the University of Bari (Italy). Her main research interests include the evolution of Christian culture throughout the centuries and its influence on societies, but she also has a strong interest in storytelling and the impact that stories can have in the medical sector. Her research project entitled ‘Pain and Suffering in Byzantine Hagiography (4th-10th c.)' focuses on how narrative techniques used in the Lives of saints influenced the narrativisation of pain over seven centuries, reinforcing an articulation of a complex gender-specific pain hierarchy.
