F15 Marius Massucco (UNI SALERNO)
Marius Massucco is a doctoral candidate at the University of Salerno (Italy), working under the supervision of Maddalena Vaccaro. He holds an MA in Art History from the University Grenoble-Alpes (France). His main research interests include architecture and archaeology of medieval buildings – mainly Catholic churches. He also has a strong interest in narratives that unfold in these monuments. His research project, entitled ‘The Healthy Place: Architecture and Images for Healing Devotional Experiences in Southern Italy and in a Mediterranean Context’, focuses on the relationship between the space of medieval shrines and the practices of pilgrims seeking healing. This involes a study of architecture and shrine decoration, but also of written sources and archaeological materials. His work focuses mainly on Campania, with comparisons across a wider area.
