General Information
The Phase B Infrastructure Works at the University Campus constitute a key pillar in implementing the strategic vision of the University of Cyprus to develop a sustainable and “smart” campus, with emphasis on sustainable mobility, integrated water resource management, energy efficiency, and the creation of high-quality public green spaces. Through the completion and upgrading of the Campus Road Network and the creation of the University Campus Park, the project enhances functional organization, connectivity between development zones, and the overall environmental upgrading of the campus, shaping a modern and fully integrated university environment.
Project Description
The Phase B Infrastructure Works include the completion and upgrading of the University Campus Road Network through the construction of the southern section of the Peripheral Road Network and the completion of the ring road (Loop Road). Works include two road bridges over the Kalogeros River, pedestrian walkways, cycle lanes, bus stops, and green corridors, as well as the implementation of all required electrical, mechanical and hydraulic infrastructure (street lighting, water supply systems, irrigation, stormwater and sewage drainage systems, fire protection systems, and district heating/cooling networks). In parallel, the project includes the creation of the University Campus Park within the green zone between the Service Road and the Kalogeros River. Works include the upgrading of the existing lake, the construction of a new lake with an island and pedestrian bridges, the development of pedestrian and cycling networks, the installation of urban equipment, the construction of a small public service building, viewing decks, three pedestrian bridges connecting to the future Student Residences, and all necessary infrastructure for the safe and integrated operation of the area.
