Participation in the Festival

The Michalis Pieris Cultural Centre of the University of Cyprus accepts artistic proposals on a continuous basis for potential inclusion in the annual Cultural Festival, which is usually held from early June to mid-July (Part A) and from early September to mid-October (Part B).

Artistic proposals are accepted for evaluation provided they meet cumulatively the following criteria:

Thematic Relevance

The proposed event must demonstrate clear and well-substantiated relevance to the Festival’s thematic concept, which focuses on Mediterranean culture and its dynamic, dialectical relationship with European and international artistic creation. The Cultural Festival aims to highlight the vitality of the Mediterranean region, and of Cyprus in particular, as an area of continuous cultural coexistence, exchange, and artistic creativity.

Completeness of Presentation

The proposal must present with clarity the work, profile and creative identity of the artist/ensemble, as well as the content, structure and form of the proposed event.

Sufficient Information for Evaluation

Each proposal must include all the information necessary to enable a comprehensive artistic, technical and financial assessment.

INELIGIBLE SUBMISSIONS

Proposals which:

• lack essential or required information;

• are not accompanied by adequate and representative audiovisual material and do not include photographs in resolution suitable for printing (above 500 Kb);

will be automatically rejected and will not be considered for evaluation.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE AND TIMELINES

Proposals submitted by 31 March are considered for potential inclusion in the programme of the current year’s Festival. Proposals submitted after this date are considered for the Festival of the following year. The results of the evaluation process are communicated to artists by the end of April each year.
