The ECMP Lab is an optical spectroscopy lab at the Physics Department of the University of Cyprus. The lab became operational in 2009 and hosts the research group of Grigorios Itskos. In the group, we study the (photo)physics of materials and assess their potential for optoelectronic and photonic applications, such as light emitting diodes, lasers, solar cells and photodetectors.
To achieve this we employ non-destructive, steady-state and time-resolved optical spectroscopy supported by optical and atomic force microscopy techniques. Much of the work is performed on solution processed materials that are processed within the lab into thin films using inexpensive coating techniques at various substrates, matrixes and flexible surfaces.
Current lab activities concentrate on the photophysics and optoelectronic properties of colloidal semiconductor quantum dots with emphasis on the spectroscopy and light emission and lasing applications of metal halide perovskite nanocrystals.
