Classic Car Expo II / Classic Car Festival organized by the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and the Formula Team of the University of Cyprus
March 31, 2025

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Cyprus welcomed and hosted 30 final-year students from Polemidia High School, who are interested in pursuing studies in engineering and technology.
As part of the visit, Ioustini Pilidi, Senior University Officer at the Faculty’s Dean’s Office, presented the Faculty’s competitive advantages. Despite being only 20 years in operation (and 25 years since its founding), the Faculty already ranks among the top engineering and technology schools internationally, and is considered first in Cyprus and Greece. Emphasis was placed on the high-quality teaching delivered by the School’s academic staff, many of whom are internationally recognized, with 25% of its faculty ranked among the top 100,000 scientists worldwide.
In addition, the degree programs offered by the Faculty ensure professional accreditation and career opportunities, thanks to their strong links with industry and practical training. Students acquire valuable professional skills and hands-on experience, while partnerships with leading universities in Europe and the United States provide opportunities for study or internships abroad, offering them international exposure during their time at the University of Cyprus.
Following that, academic staff from the Faculty — Associate Professor Christos Hadjichristos, Assistant Professor Themis Charalambous, Lecturer Rafaella Agathokleous, and Assistant Professor Nikolas Hadjipantelis — gave detailed presentations on the degree programs offered by the Departments of Architecture, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, and Civil and Environmental Engineering, respectively. The professors also answered students’ questions regarding program structure, career prospects, and student life at the University of Cyprus.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the University campus, during which the students had the chance to explore the new, state-of-the-art and iconic facilities of the Faculty of Engineering, where they are expected to begin their studies this coming September.
This visit served as an important step in familiarizing students with engineering studies, and more specifically with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Cyprus, and is expected to inspire and guide them in their future academic and career choices.
