Outstanding Students and Graduates of the Faculty of Engineering Honored for the Academic Year 2024–2025 – Monetary Awards Exceeding €38,000 Presented
June 19, 2025With great joy and pride, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Cyprus organized on Tuesday, 17 June 2025, an Award Ceremony to honor the students and graduates who distinguished themselves through excellence, academic performance, multifaceted engagement, and the skills they demonstrated during their studies.
As part of this year’s event, a particularly inspiring message was shared by a 2019 graduate of the Faculty, Aristotelis Oikonomidis, who is currently working at Google DeepMind in California, contributing to the development of leading global artificial intelligence models such as Gemini and Veo.
Through his speech, Aristotelis delivered powerful messages about life, motivation, and believing in oneself:
"No one will give you a 'starting signal.' Life has already begun. Ask for what you want and let others decide if you deserve it. The world is more malleable than you think. And very small – always act fairly."
Aristotelis’ journey stands as living proof that the knowledge cultivated at the University of Cyprus can transcend local geographical boundaries and be transformed into innovation, a source of inspiration, and a driving force for change on a global level.
