The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering invites you to a lecture by Dr. Socrates A. Ioannidis (Structural Affiliates International), organized the seminar series The Engineer in Society.
Lecture Title: “Steel or Concrete?”
The lecture will examine fundamental principles of steel structure design and present the main differences between steel structures and reinforced concrete structures. Practical design issues will be discussed, including floor plan layout, lateral load-resisting systems, structural elements, and fire protection, illustrated through real project examples.
