Pantelia Themistokleous, Top Graduate of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Cyprus, Receives the €2,000 Elli and Panayiotis Mallis Award

A monetary award of €2,000 was presented on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in memory of Panayiotis and Elli Malli by the Panayiotis and Elli Malli Foundation "Panayia tis Lysis" to Pantelia Themistocleous, a graduate with GPA of 9.34/10 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering of the University of Cyprus. Pantelia is originally from Vathylakas, Famagusta. 

The Award has been bestowed for the last 25 years on a distinguished graduate of the University of Cyprus, in recognition of excellence and diligence in studies. 

During the presentation, special reference was made to Panayiotis Mallis, who served as a member of the first Council of the University of Cyprus and was a prominent figure of Lysis and Cyprus, contributing greatly both to his hometown and to Cypriot society. His philanthropy, generosity, and selflessness continue to be represented through the Panayiotis and Elli Malli Foundation "Panayia tis Lysis" whose activities support Cypriot society. 

The presentation of the Award was made by Ms. Angela Laperta, President of the Panayiotis and Elli Malli Foundation "Panayia tis Lysis" in the presence of the Rector Professor Tasos Christofides, the Mayor of Lysis Mr. Andreas Kaouris, and other members of the University Community. 

The University of Cyprus warmly thanks the Panayiotis and Elli Malli Foundation "Panayia tis Lysis" for its steady and substantial support towards the institution and its students.
