Ingrid Bennewitz has been co-founder and several times director of the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Bamberg. She has represented the Centre in the EU-project Network for Medieval Arts & Rituals in which she worked closely together with representatives from the University of Cyprus and the University of Southern Denmark. Previously she acted as Vice-President of the University of Bamberg (2000 – 2004) and was involved in the German and Bavarian elite academic education. Her research interests include medieval German literature, the transmission of medieval texts, critical editions, gender studies and medievalism. More recently, she has co-edited (with Freimut Löser) a volume on medieval and early modern literary patterns of life and a second volume (with Bernd Bastert) on upheavals in German literature between 1450 and 1520. Her current projects include a volume on the medieval author Neidhart and a second volume on the reception of medieval female healers.
