The main purpose of the Academic Development and Quality Sector (ADEQS) is to provide holistic administrative support to the Departments and the Medical School of the University of Cyprus (UCY) in terms of the development of new and the evolution of existing educational activities with continuous improvement of the quality of its offered services. Additionally, the purpose of ADEQS is to contribute effectively to the organization’s prompt response to the developments of the external environment.
The ADEQS is the point of contact between the Departments and the administration, providing direct response and service in relation to the design and development of new curricula (distance/hybrid, foreign language undergraduate programmes, micro-credentials, etc.), the revision of existing ones, and the development or revision/upgrade of their operating framework.
In addition, it provides expertise and know-how in relation to quality standards and directly support training in new technologies.
The Sector comprises the following Offices:
- Evaluation and Accreditation
- Programme Development and Quality Assurance
- Distance Learning Support
Main responsibilities of each Office
- The Evaluation and Accreditation Office supports external evaluation and accreditation matters of academic programmes and departments, aiming for compliance with national and European standards.
- The Programme Development and Quality Assurance Office supports the development of new programmes, the revision of existing ones as well as all matters related to the internal quality assurance system and the development of new educational activities.
- The Distance Learning Support Office provides administrative support for the pedagogical and technological training of academic staff in collaboration with other administrative services and the Pedagogical Unit of UCY, ensuring their development and operation based on national and European criteria. This supports both the accreditation requirements of programmes and their continued operation.
