The purpose of the Programme Development and Quality Assurance Office is to support the Departments in the development/revision of new/existing programmes of study (conventional/distance/foreign language undergraduate programmes, inter-university) as well as in the development of short cycle programmes (micro-credentials). It also undertakes the creation/revision of relevant rules/policies for the operation of the programmes and manages quality assurance tools (studies, reports, YUFE satisfaction surveys, etc.) Finally, it supports the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs in new projects and studies related to the development of the academic activities of the UCY in collaboration with the Departments and other UCY entities.

The main responsibilities of the Programme Development and Quality Assurance Office are to:

  • cooperate and support the Departments/Medical School in the development of new programmes of study or in the revision of existing ones.
  • ensure the implementation of quality and accreditation criteria when designing new or revising existing programmes
  • monitor the European and National Framework for the operation of programmes and submit to the UCY bodies recommendations/policies for the harmonisation of the UCY
  • develop the internal quality system of the UCY’s programmes of study and ensure the implementation of quality criteria based on the European criteria (ESG2015)
  • manage the UCY’s quality assurance obligations in the YUFE project
  • Cooperate with social partners to ensure that programmes of study meet the needs of the labour market (professional associations, companies, governmental bodies, Ministry of Education, CYQAA)
  • Collect, analyse and submit studies to the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, in relation to the issues he/she manages
  • Submit proposals for the improvement of internal processes supporting education and manage the implementation of projects in collaboration with administrative services, departments and other entities
  • Develop and implement feedback tools for quality assurance based on the Deming Cycle (1986) and monitors the progress of implementation actions.
  • Submit recommendations to the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs in relation to decisions/announcements of the CYQAA and execute instructions for the management of related issues
  • Support the functioning of the Internal Quality Senate Committee
  • Organise the annual quality assurance workshop
