Prof. Stavroula Constantinou (StoryPharm Coordinator)

Stavroula Constantinou is the Founder and Director of the Centre for Medieval Arts & Rituals (CeMAR) of the University of Cyprus. She is also the editor-in-chief of the diamond open access journal Eventum: A Journal of Medieval Arts & Rituals. Previously she has been the coordinator of the projects Network for Medieval Arts & Rituals (NetMAR), Lactating Breasts: Motherhood and Breastfeeding in Antiquity and Byzantium and Storyworlds in Collections: Toward a Theory of the Ancient and Byzantine Tale. She has written widely on hagiography, gender, emotions, ritual, and the body. Recently, she has edited (with Andria Andreou) Storyworlds in Short Narratives: Approaches to Late Antique and Early Byzantine Tales (Leiden, 2025) and (with Aspasia Skouroumouni-Stavrinou) Breastfeeding and Mothering in Antiquity and Early Byzantium (London and New York, 2024). Her current projects include the rituals of Byzantine mothering, the intersections between artistic expressions and rituals, and the medical uses of storytelling.
