On Friday, 8 May 2026, the Bamberger Graduiertenschule für Mittelalterstudien (BaGraMS) hosted its annual “Work in Progress” doctoral research day at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg, Germany. Interdisciplinary Exchange and Medieval Studies Research

The presentations reflected the broad interdisciplinary scope of contemporary medieval studies research, spanning cultural history, theology, visual culture, gender studies, literary analysis, trade history, and the history of medicine and healthcare representation.

Particularly relevant to the broader field of Health Humanities were the presentations exploring medieval understandings of health professionals, gendered medical representation, morality, and sexuality in premodern societies.

The event was hosted under the auspices of the Zentrum für Mittelalterstudien (ZeMas) at the University of Bamberg.
