- Attendance: All members of the laboratory are required to attend all lab meetings.
- Conference Presentations: Any material intended for presentation at a conference must be finalized and approved by Dr. Maria Karekla at least two weeks prior to submission. If this is not feasible, the material will not be submitted to the conference.
- Upon returning from the conference, all authors listed on the presentation should be provided with a reference for inclusion in their CVs.
- Publication Contribution: It is expected that all doctoral students contribute to the writing of at least one manuscript for publication per year.
- Acknowledgment of Contributions: Authors must acknowledge and give credit for any contributions made by third parties during the writing process.
- Thesis Guidelines: Students must consult with Dr. Maria Karekla and submit multiple drafts before sending the thesis to any committee member. A suggested timeline for graduation in June is as follows:
- December (previous year): All data should be entered and checked.
- February: All analyses should be completed.
- End of March: Full draft (abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, references, tables, and figures) should be submitted to Dr. Karekla for review.
- April: Revisions
- May: Thesis defense
- June: Graduation
Additional Guidelines for Writing Theses, Dissertations, and Articles:
- Always cite all sources of information. If information comes from another author, it must be properly referenced.
- If you choose to write your thesis in Greek (considering where you may want to publish), you cannot simply translate others’ work into Greek. This is still considered plagiarism. You must paraphrase and provide proper citations.
- Paraphrase as much as possible, and use quotation marks only when it is essential to present the original author’s exact words.
- Carefully follow APA publication guidelines.
Selection of Laboratory Members
Applicants to the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology must first identify a supervisor whose research interests align with their own. If the applicant is successfully admitted to the Clinical Program, the Supervisor (who is the scientific head of the laboratory) will determine whether the applicant meets all the criteria to work with the team. This is usually conducted through a personal interview with the laboratory supervisor, Dr. Maria Karekla.
