Our Lab

Thank you for visiting the website of our clinical laboratory, «ACThealthy». We are a laboratory within the Department of Psychology at the University of Cyprus, under the supervision of Clinical Psychologist and Professor Dr. Maria Karekla. Our team consists of postdoctoral researchers, Ph.D. students, master’s students, and undergraduate students in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and School Psychology. The mission of our laboratory is to produce high-quality research in the field of human behavior and health. We place particular emphasis on understanding the mechanisms that lead to psychological difficulties (e.g., anxiety) and on developing programs aimed at reducing human suffering and enhancing quality of life.

We conduct both basic and applied research grounded in the theoretical framework and therapeutic approach of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as the broader Cognitive-Behavioral Approach.
