International and European Economic Studies
The International and European Economic Studies track combines economic analysis with the study of European integration, international political economy, law, history, and political science. Students acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and develop skills that enable them to understand international economic developments, European policies, and the operation of international organisations in an ever-changing global environment.

Programme Aims
- To adequately prepare graduates for the needs of an internationalised economic and political environment by providing a strong background in economic theory, international and European economic policies, as well as interdisciplinary knowledge in areas such as law, international relations, and political science.
- To provide the necessary knowledge and skills for further studies in postgraduate programmes in economics, European studies, international relations, public policy, and related academic fields in Europe and internationally.
Learning Outcomes
Graduates will:
- have a solid background in core economic theory and an understanding of international and European economic developments.
- understand the functioning of European institutions, international organisations, and economic integration processes.
- be able to analyse international economic and political issues using economic tools and interdisciplinary approaches.
- have developed communication, argumentation, and academic/professional writing skills within a European and international context.
- be capable of conducting basic research, managing information and data, and evaluating economic and policy developments at European and international levels.
Basic Information & Requirements
To obtain the Economics degree, students must complete at least 240* European Credit Transfer System credits (ECTS). In addition, all of the following requirements must be fulfilled:

- At least 131 ECTS must come from courses offered by the Department of Economics (course code ECO) and include compulsory Department courses (89 ECTS – ECO111, ECO112, ECO113, ECO121, ECO211, ECO221, ECO222, ECO223, ECO251, ECO252, ECO253, ECO397, ECO497) and Department restricted elective courses (7 courses × 6 ECTS = 42 ECTS). At least 4 out of the 7 courses must come from the approved list below.
- At least 20 ECTS must come from free elective courses offered by at least three different faculties of the University.
- At least 6 ECTS must come from courses offered by the Department of Social and Political Sciences (SPS).
- At least 6 ECTS must come from courses offered by the Department of Law (LAW).
- At least 5 ECTS must come from courses offered by the Department of History and Archaeology (HIS).
- At least 18 ECTS must come from courses offered by AFN/BPA/HIS/LAW/SPS.
- Completion of 15 ECTS in English language courses (LAN100, LAN101, LAN209).
- Completion of 15 ECTS from another foreign language (requiring the successful completion of 3 levels across three semesters).
- 24 ECTS from the compulsory courses MAS001, MAS061, CS032 and CS037, which students attend during their first year of studies.
