The Events Office implements activities which aim to connect the work produced at the University of Cyprus with the society in general and highlight the positive societal impact of science.
A great number of official ceremonies, as well as scientific and cultural events, are organised every year by the Events Office, mainly on the University premises, either in collaboration with other parties from Cyprus and abroad or by the University itself.
The Events Office is responsible for the organization of the Official Ceremonies of the University of Cyprus, such as:
- Ceremony for the delegation of the Rector´s authority/power
- Graduation Ceremonies of Undergraduate and Postgraduate students,
- Conferment Ceremonies of Honorary Doctorates,
- Foundation Stones Laying Ceremonies
- Inauguration Ceremonies of Building Facilities on the University Campus,
- Welcoming Students Ceremony,
- Event for Honoring retired community members and welcoming new members
Moreover, the office organizes public lectures that have as a goal to illustrate the value of teaching, culture and science and aim at the interaction of citizens with the first public institution of the country. Realizing the importance of life-long learning and in cooperation with Municipalities, communities and other societal parties, the University of Cyprus, having the Events Office as a coordinator, designs and implements the lecture series of Free Universities.
Concluding, the Events Office is responsible for hosting honorable personalities and intellectuals, as well as elected or appointed Officials and diplomats from the European Union or from foreign countries, focusing on developing an open dialogue with the members of the University and especially with its students. Prime Ministers, Presidents, Ministers and Members of the Parliaments from all over the world visit the University of Cyprus and enrich the Cypriot culture with their expertise and experiences.
