May 20, 2025The Annual Lecture of the Minister of Finance, Mr. Makis Keravnos, took place with great success on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, on “The New Tax Reform in Cyprus.” The event was hosted at the “Anastasios Leventis” Council-Senate Building of the University of Cyprus, in the presence of academics, institutional representatives, and interested citizens.
In his speech, the Minister outlined the key aspects of the upcoming reform, clarifying that no further increase is planned for the tax-free income threshold beyond €20,500. He also emphasized that the increase in the corporate tax rate to 15% is modest but necessary to maintain the country’s competitiveness.
Special emphasis was placed on green taxation, with Mr. Keravnos noting that significant efforts are being made to minimize the financial burden on households and businesses, while simultaneously promoting the adoption of a more sustainable and environmentally responsible development model.
The lecture concluded with a constructive discussion and questions from the audience, followed by a reception where attendees had the opportunity for further conversation and exchange of views.
We warmly thank everyone who participated and contributed to the success of the event, as well as our sponsors, Hellenic Bank and the newspaper Politis, for their valuable support.
