Network for Researching the Effects of COVID-19 on Brain Health
The mission of the Twinning project Brain Research and Integrative Neuroscience Network for COVID-19 (BRAINN) is to develop innovative methods for characterising the effects of COVID-19 on brain health.
The project BRAINN has formed a consortium of research teams from Cyprus, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom with interdisciplinary expertise to investigate how COVID-19 affects brain health.
BRAINN contributes:
- Innovation: Cutting-edge methods in applied neuroscience and neurorehabilitation are being developed for improving the understanding, assessment and treatment of neuropsychological deficits related to long COVID.
- Collaboration: A network of experts from European universities has formed to exchange knowledge and expertise through scientific activities, such as staff exchanges, expert visits, webinars, workshops, and conferences.
- Specialisation: Knowledge and skills in neuroimaging, non-invasive neurostimulation, and digitalised assessment will be acquired by researchers, students, and health professionals through hands-on training.
- Beyond the project: With dedication to the improvement of health care practices through the harmonisation of assessment and treatment protocols, the methods developed will be applicable to study other conditions which affect cognitive and mental health.
- Sustainability: Throughout the project, we will share knowledge and resources for long-term impact and expansion of the network.
