Welcome Message
The Faculty of Law was established in 2006, aiming to provide high quality legal education. The launch of the first law degrees at postgraduate level was realised in September 2018 for the PhD and in January 2019 for the LLM. Since 2006, the Department offers courses in law to cross-registering students of other departments of the University of Cyprus as open elective or embedded courses.
The Department of Law is leading the study of Cypriot law and its development in a manner that meets the requirements of modern society and the challenges at international and European level. The study of law in the department aims at cultivating critical legal thought and the combination of theory, expertise and practical spirit.
In addition to the high standards of teaching, one of the main priorities of the Department is the cultivation of scientific research. The international scientific presence of its academic staff is strong. Academic staff members have significant involvement in international, European and domestic research activities and programs. At the same time, the Department regularly organizes a variety of scientific events that cover a wide range of law-related subjects, as well as a series of research seminars.
