Σχεδιάζοντας την Γλυπτική | Μάρω Παρτζίλη
Abstract:
Στην παρουσίαση της πορείας μου στον χώρο της γλυπτικής και της τέχνης, θα αναφερθώ στις συνθήκες που με καθόρισαν σαν άνθρωπο και σαν καλλιτέχνη και θα προβληθούν έργα μου που δημιούργησα στη διάρκεια των χρόνων. Όπως ζούμε σε ένα κόσμο που αέναα κινείται, μέσα σε αυτό το περιβάλλον συναντώ την έμπνευση μου. Εργάζομαι χωρίς προειλημμένες αποφάσεις, με τρόπο που θα μπορούσε να με οδηγήσει σε νέο πεδίο σκέψης. Με ενδιαφέρει η δυσκολία, η έρευνα, το έργο σαν ένα θέμα προς ανάπτυξη, σαν ένα πρόβλημα προς επίλυση. Επιλέγω τα σχήματα και την κίνηση που προκύπτουν και αντιμετωπίζω τη γλυπτική μου σαν ένα τρισδιάστατο σχέδιο παραμένοντας μέσα σε ένα δημιουργικό πειραματισμό.

Experimental Architecture | Pavlos Fereos
Abstract:
Driving elements from its speculative nature, its imaginative concepts, futuristic science and technology imagery, Sci-Fi architecture develops components and design language that enables experimental innovation in contemporary Architecture. This language is found in realized projects that manage to become a setting of their own in an otherwise established and consistent built environment. This lecture explores the close yet parallel development of Computational Design Tools / CGI in Movies and Architecture, their incorporation in education and fabrication techniques, and by extension their influence in the experimental nature of contemporary Architecture. Architecture that creates a parallel world which no one expects to become the new norm, but everyone aspires to enter.

Abstract:
Η διαίσθηση στην αρχιτεκτονική πρακτική δεν είναι τυχαία. Καλλιεργείται μέσα από χρόνια μελέτης, παρατήρησης, ανάλυσης και πειραματισμούς. Σε μια αναδρομή στην έμπρακτη Αρχιτεκτονική πορεία από την αρχή της καριέρας μέχρι σήμερα με αναφορές σε Έργα ορόσημα τόσο στο δομημένο περιβάλλον όσο και για τον ίδιο, αναλύεται πως σε κάθε περίπτωση συνέβαλε η λειτουργεία της διαισθητικής ενόρασης και πως αναπτύχθηκε ως εργαλείο δημιουργικής προσέγγισης για καινοτόμες λύσεις που ανταποκρίνονται αφενός στους στόχους του έργου και τις ανάγκες των χρηστών και αφετέρου στα ζητούμενα της αειφορίας, της περιβαλλοντικής και κοινωνικής ευθύνης και της προσαρμογής. Είτε πρόκειται για την σχεδίαση ενός αειφόρου αστικού έργου είτε για το σχεδιασμό ενός πολιτιστικού κέντρου, το γραφείο αντιμετωπίζει την Αρχιτεκτονική μέσα από την συνεχή αναζήτηση μεταδίδοντας την ουσία ενός σχεδιασμού πέρα από τα τεχνικά σχέδια και τις απεικονίσεις.

Spectators in a Ghost City - Μια σκηνογραφική προσέγγιση στην υλικότητα της μνήμης | Melita Couta & Marina Maleni
Abstract:
Πώς μπορούμε να κατανοήσουμε χώρους που έχουν υποστεί σύγκρουση και τραύμα μέσω της υλικότητάς τους ως φορείς μνήμης; Πώς μπορούμε να συνδεθούμε μαζί τους μέσω σκηνογραφικών μεθοδολογιών και να οραματιστούμε ένα διαφορετικό μέλλον; Με αφετηρία τα ερωτήματα αυτά, η καλλιτέχνις Μελίτα Κούτα και η θεατρολόγος-επικοινωνιολόγος Μαρίνα Μαλένη, θα παρουσιάσουν την βραβευμένη εικαστική εγκατάσταση με τίτλο “Spectators in a Ghost City “ που εκπροσώπησε την Εθνική συμμετοχή της Κύπρου στην 15η Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2023 υπό την ευθύνη του ΘΟΚ. Οι ομιλήτριες θα συζητήσουν τη σχέση μεταξύ δημόσιου χώρου, συλλογικότητας και σύγχρονων θεατρικών και σκηνογραφικών πρακτικών, τόσο μέσα από την πρακτική τους όσο και από το πώς έχουν επαναπροσδιοριστεί τα τελευταία χρόνια, αλλά και την εξέλιξη της Κουατριενάλε Πράγας. Θα παρουσιαστεί η ιδέα της χρήσης σκηνογραφικών/ παραστασιακών μεθοδολογιών ως διαδικασίες σκέψης, ως πολιτική πράξη, ως διαπραγμάτευση μεταξύ πραγματικών χώρων σύγκρουσης και καλλιτεχνικών δηλώσεων.

Social Spaces between direct urbanism and architecture | Paul Rajakovics (Τransparadiso)
Abstract:
A major aspect of transparadiso’s longterm transdisciplinary practice is the method of direct urbanism. In projects like „NORMAL“ (Graz Culture Year 2020/2021) or „Request for the unrequested voluntary interlinguisticality“ (Pottenhofen, Lower Austria, 2016), Paul Rajakovics will show how the practice of direct urbanism engages in furthering a socially committed urban planning and urban development, and which artistic-urbanistic tools transparadiso has been developing for a durational process as part of a longer term urban planning strategy. Referring to the Situationsts and Henri Lefebvre transparadiso considers architecture in its complex responsibility for society for which transparadiso creates situations for participation and active engagement often transgressing the usual field of architecture. Projects like „Bienvenue Quarter“, a social housing project in Vienna, show the engagement in social/ cultural programming and the emphasis on creating urban public space free of consumption, like in the cooperative housing project „At the City Balcony“ in the new urban development area behind Vienna’s new Main Train Station.

Abstract:
The desire to reevaluate typologies, question programmatic and spatial norms, and formalize ideas are concerns that seem to transcend the different Architectural challenges we encounter. The specifics of site, client, scale, help us carry out these investigations, hopefully arriving at work that is both a product of our continuing concerns, but also unique and appropriate in responding to each specific Architectural problem we encounter. This approach has always been present in our quest to produce Architecture that spans from the creation of habitable spaces, cultural spaces to gather, and urban interventions. Projects that have always strived to elevate the user experience and raise the appreciation for our role as Architects in improving our way of life. This is a presentation of some of our projects that have helped to shape our way of thinking and that can hopefully demonstrate our methodologies in approaching each one of these projects, irrespective of scale and program.

Abstract:
In architectural responses to climate change, few have pushed the boundaries of design and thought as profoundly as our speaker. This lecture will unravel the depth and breadth of regenerative projects conceived by Emanuele Naboni in various countries and brought to fruition. Emphasising thermodynamic adaptation as a design philosophy, we'll navigate through these architectural endeavours that respond to the immediate challenges of climate change and envision a coexistence with nature and ecological cycles.

Typology, memory and nature | Christos Pavlou
Abstract:
Experiencing architecture is centred on our perception of space not only on a physical but on a memory level too. Whether these memories are personal, cultural or universal humans have sentimental attachments to places connected with what we have stored in our brain. Certain types of buildings or places become mediators between man, history and nature. Short references to the theories of Le Corbusier, Aldo Rossi and Aldo Van Eyck related to the importance of “type” and its application to their build work will be discussed. Although they share the same primary forms, they assign different meanings to types and to their design approach. Being inspired by their theories I will explain how our architecture relates to certain typology and focus on the importance of integrating biophilic design. The presentation will focus on house projects to explore the idea of how nature may be brought back into our lives and purify our way of living.

Challenge: Contemporary Churches and Cyprus | Theoharis David
Abstract:
Among the most significant commissions an architect can receive is the design of a religious building which when realized becomes a symbol for and expression of a city, a community or idea. It could be a Parthenon, an Agia Sofia of Constantinople, Notre Dame de Paris, the Basilica of Saint Peter’s, the Sagrada Familia of Barcelona or Chicago’s Unitarian Temple, and Philadelphia’s Beth Sholom Synagogue not to the exclusion of religious structures of other faiths. Cyprus is rich with outstanding examples of ecclesiastical architecture of the Byzantine period, adapted to urban and rural environments and villages. Many are of the opinion that this period is underrepresented and not sufficiently studied as part of the cultural heritage of Cyprus. The lecture will present significant historical and contemporary examples of ecclesiastical architecture primarily in Cyprus, the purpose being to pose questions and present a challenge to all as to how we as architects can conceive of and as citizen laymen support a contemporary architecture which through past precedents their teachings and inspiration, respects the historic Byzantine architecture of Cyprus.

Heterotopias & Architectural Technology | Dimitrios Psychogyios
Abstract:
Η παρουσίαση αποτελείται από δύο μέρη, στο πρώτο περιγράφονται μια σειρά από συστηματικά εργαστήρια που πραγματοποιούνται στα πλαίσια των μαθημάτων Αρχιτεκτονικής Τεχνολογίας – Οικοδομικής στο τμήμα Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας. Πρόκειται για ενσώματες δράσεις στον φυσικό χώρο συνδυασμένες με κατασκευές (φυσικά πρωτότυπα) και σχέδια σε κλίμακα 1/1. Στο δεύτερο μέρος παρουσιάζεται το έργο της έκθεσης με τίτλο «Θηραϊκές τοιχογραφίες. Ο θησαυρός του Προϊστορικού Αιγαίου» που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο μουσείο προϊστορικής Θήρας Σαντορίνης. Η έκθεση ολοκληρώθηκε και εγκαινιάστηκε τον Αύγουστο του 2021. Η ανάθεση της μουσειογραφικής μελέτης και της επίβλεψης των εργασιών έγινε στην αρχιτεκτονική ομάδα LabA από την Εφορεία Αρχαιοτήτων Κυκλάδων. Κοινό στοιχείο των παραπάνω είναι η διαδικασία σωματικότητας των υποκειμένων που επιτρέπει την κατανόηση της κλίμακας, της υλικότητας και της τεχνολογίας του χώρου ενώ ταυτόχρονα εισάγονται στην διαμόρφωση του κοινωνικού νοήματος αυτού. Οι Άλλοι χώροι (Ετεροτοπίες) όπως τους περιγράφει ο Michel Foucault στο ομώνυμο κείμενο αποτελούν αφετηρία σκέψης για την ανάπτυξη και περαιτέρω διερεύνηση της σχέσης χώρου και αρχιτεκτονικής τεχνολογίας.
