The Archbishop of Cyprus in his speech entitled “The timeless position of the Church of Cyprus in the struggles of Hellenism”, analyzed the role and contribution of the Church of Cyprus in the long history of our island and Hellenism. Throughout the history of Christianity, he emphasized, that the concept of homeland is not only recognized, but also blessed and sanctified by the Church. “The history is written with the teachings and sacrifices of the saints. The concept of homeland is strongly imbued with a religious character and the Church’s participation in the Nation’s struggles for its defense or liberation is enshrined”.
