A number of exchange visits are foreseen in the project. These visits of UCY faculty and ECRs to each of the advanced partner institutions will allow UCY researchers to gain access to advanced scientific infrastructure and experience from direct involvement in the activities of highly competitive research teams. The exchange visits will also enable knowledge and skill transfer and will enhance collaboration between UCY researchers and their internationally-leading partners on specific projects, with a view towards joint grant applications and joint ECR supervision.
The "1st Exchange Visit” took place on 12-16/06/2023 in Maastricht University and the Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (MERIT).
The "2nd Exchange Visit” consisted of two components: First it was the joint participation of UCY and UC3M in the Open Science Fair Conference in Madrid on 25-27/09/23 and then a visit at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid held on September 28, 2023, specifically at the Getafe Campus. The Open Science Fair Conference (http://opensciencefair.eu/) was a significant event dedicated to advancing and reforming research assessment and promoting Open Science. The conference addressed various important topics, starting with alternative assessment approaches, exploring how to value all contributions to the scholarly process. This discussion emphasised the need for a more inclusive and equitable research environment, recognising the diverse contributions of researchers and fostering greater diversity and inclusion within the scientific community. The conference also examined the role of funding and institutional support in facilitating these changes.
The "3rd Exchange Visit” was planned by UNU-MERIT and took place on June 10-14, 2024. The visit meeting programme featured a range of topics vital to enhancing research and innovation (R&I) strategies. Each topic was carefully selected to address key aspects of regional and national R&I policies, methodologies, and implementation practices, thereby fostering an environment conducive to advanced research.
