Kirsten HAALAND is a researcher at the UNU Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) who is interested in Open Source Software, Online Communities, Open Science, FAIR principles, Business Models & Business Processes.

She has participated in various EU-funded projects such as Calibre, FLOSSMetrics, QualOSS, OpenSME, RISCOSS, SIMPACT, SmartEIZ as well as the ongoing Excellence of Science Study with her research focusing on the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) specifically.

Besides this expertise, she is also experienced in business case studies and has contributed numerous articles and a case study on Nordic countries to the European Commission's IDABC Open Source Observatory.
