University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus
The Twinning for Excellence in Management and Economics of Research and Innovation TWIN4MERIT project of the University of Cyprus is thrilled to announce its 1st Summer School which will take place on 2-10 September 2024 at the University of Cyprus (UCY). The Summer School will reinforce knowledge in the Management and Economics of Research and Innovation (MERIT) related fields and research methods with a series of lectures and methodology training sessions in Nicosia, Cyprus, taught by the advanced partners and other world-class experts in the field.
TWIN4MERIT, a Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101079196, aims to examine meta-research areas of critical importance such as research assessment, open science, and gender equality in research by improving the research landscape of Cyprus in the interdisciplinary field of MERIT. This is achieved by facilitating a partnership with two advanced partners in the field, Maastricht University through its United Nations University – Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) and the University of Carlos III of Madrid. The European Office of Cyprus (EOC) is also participating in the project to enable the dissemination of all related research activities and outcomes within the R&I ecosystem of Cyprus and at the EU level.
The 1st TWIN4MERIT Summer School aims to enhance the impact of UCY’s role as a major research and educational hub for the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa (EMMENA) region. This training activity will not only benefit UCY members but also the broader scientific community in Cyprus, as attendance is open to researchers and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from all Cypriot universities and relevant research organisations. Furthermore, the Summer School encourages applications for attendance from other EU countries and the EMMENA region.
The TWIN4MERIT Summer School will start with a Transferrable Skills Session on 2-3 September 2024, and it will be followed by a joint research conference of TWIN4MERIT and SInnoPSis projects on Research Assessment on 4-5 September 2024. It will be concluded with the main part of the Summer School and more specifically the Scientific Skills Sessions from the advanced partners and local experts on 6, 9, and 10 September 2024.
